"This past weekend, I had the opportunity to join Dean and fellow students in a garden art-making adventure! This workshop, however, was about much more than garden art. I chose the class as a professional development opportunity to support my teaching a sculpture class, and I ended up gaining a full experience in sculpture building and mosaics.

Although I studied art in college and teach art now, this was my first professional 3D art-making experience, and after Dean’s guidance and influence, I hope to produce many more sculptures in my future. The class began with demonstrations and explanations of how to use materials and where to get them, and then our small, focused group jumped right into individual sculpture making. Dean provided all of the materials, as well as answers to our many questions along the way.

I loved that the class combined both traditional sculpture making techniques as well as the mosaic process, both of which will be directly transferred into my middle school art classes. My students are sure to benefit from these techniques in a whole new way! This workshop was well worth the $195 and the trek from Seattle to Vashon Island – a creative and inspiring experience not to be missed!"
